Town Marshal Shot at Hazard is Dead

Hazard, Ky., Dec 18-Jay Draughn, was marshal of Hazard, who was shot and  fatally wounded last night at 7:25 by James O. Combs, died at 3 o'clock this morning.

Draughn dragged himself to the door of the Hazard Pharmacy and was carried to the office of Drs. Hurst and Gross, where everything possible was done to alleviate his sufferings.

A great deal of excitement was caused by the trouble as both men are well known through Eastern Kentucky.

Combs was a candidate in the recent primary for sheriff. Draughn has lived here for about two years, having come here from Knott County
