Hacker, Gary W. ~ age 61 of Hamilton, OH passed away on July 6, 2009 at the
Ft. Hamilton Hospital. He was born on February 20, 1948 in Hazard, KY, the son
of Dewey and Pauline (Blanton) Hacker. He was a 1968 graduate of Fairfield High
School. He married Deborah Retherford on February 7, 1969 in Fairfield, OH. Gary
was employed by the International Paper Company in Springdale as a printing
press operator for thirty-three years. He was presently employed as a custodian
for the Fairfield City Schools. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Fairfield and a member of the Fairfield Sportsman's Association. He was a former
first place champion in the Ohio Trap Shooters Association Contest in 1979. Gary
is survived by his wife Deborah; his parents Dewey and Pauline Hacker of
Fairfield, OH; his children Christopher Edward Hacker and his wife Amie of
Liberty Township, OH and Alissa Pauline Gardner and her husband Will of New
Richmond, OH; one brother Larry Dean Hacker of Hamilton; four grandchildren Ian
M. Hacker, Aidan M. Hacker, Alex T. Gardner, and Kaitlyn P. Gardner. Funeral
services will be held at the Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N W Washington Blvd. on
July 9, 2009 at 11:00am with Pastor Danny Rollins officiating. Visitation will
be on July 8, 2009 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. at the funeral home, Burial will be

Hagans, Sebretta -age 61, died July 6, 2008 at the Zusman House
Hospice. She was born in Hazard, KY to James and Sally Hagans. She was preceded
in death by her father James Hagans and is survived by her parents, Sally and
James Niece; brothers, Willie Kid, James Hagans (Linellan), Harry Hagans (Eve
Fitch), Napolean Hagans (Delores), Robert Niece (Cassandra), Mark Niece,
Douglass Niece (Melissa) and Oliver Hagans; daughters, Sally Hagans and Shelly
Hagans; son, Vonzell Hagans; grandchildren, Lynnetta, Lanise, and Lyona Thomas,
Gianni and Izzy Hagans and Terelle Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sebretta was also survived by her special aunt, Wanda Combs; special cousin,

Hall, James “Poppy” -69, of Viper, died Thursday, September 4 at the Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center. He was a retired painter. He was the son of the late Henry Hall and the late Dallie Napier. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Athlene Hall, one sister and five brothers. He is survived by his wife, Sue Hall; daughters Revella “Sis” Amburgey and husband David, Darlene “Do-Do Bird” Shell and husband Bobby, Regina Strong and husband Jack and Faronia Gross and husband Scott; sons Henry “Tick” Hall, James “Crow” Hall and wife Tracy and Scottie “Chigger” Hall and wife Denise. She was owner and operator of Hall’s Grocery Store for 22 years, an avid quiltmaker and a member of Big Leatherwood First Baptist Church. Hall, Zola Spencer -born April 18, 1933, departed this life on Sunday, September 28 at the Hazard Nursing Home. She was 75 years, five months and 10 days of age at the time of her passing. She was born in Perry County, the daughter of the late Seldon Spencer and the late Lydia Riley Spencer. She was a life long resident of Perry County and a member of the Jess Missionary Baptist Church. By occupation she had been the manager of the Pic and Pay shoe store in Hazard for many years. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hall. Harmon, Shirley Ann ~ 53, of North Vernon, passed away on March 24 at 3:50
a.m. at her home. There will be a graveside service in Hazard at a later date.
She was born on April 14, 1955 in Hazard, the daughter of the late Jeff and
Mary Rose Baker Couch. She is survived by her husband, George Harmon. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She
also worked as a DST at Muscatatuck State Development Center. She is also
survived by sons Jason Watts of Hanover, Jeffrey Watts of North Vernon, and
John Watts of Indianapolis; adopted children Beth and Morgan Couch, both of
North Carolina, Gracie Couch of Scipio, Julia Coe, Anna Halloway, and Cole
Bobbett of North Vernon; siblings Edward Napier of Kentucky, Bobby Napier of
Tennessee, and Glenna Campbell of Michigan, and five grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Mary Ann Freeman.

Harper, Billy J. -Age 75, passed away peacefully June 30, 2008 with
his family by his side. Billy was a long time member of the Wheelrim Baptist

Heinkel, Mary Turner ~ 63 of Camden, OH died on August 21, 2009 at Vitas
Hospice Dayton. She was born in Buckhorn, KY on July 3, 1946 to Robert & Polly
Turner. She was an RN and worked at Ft. Hamilton Hospital for 25 years, retiring
in 2001, and went to work for the State of Ohio at Warren Correctional
Institution as an RN, retiring in 2008. Mary was a member of Victory Hill
Baptist Church in Miamisburg, OH. Mrs. Heinkel is survived by three daughters,
Judy (Worrell) Reid, Barb (Todd) Davis & Polly Heinkel; one sister Maureen

Hensley, Mrs. Mollie M. -the wife of Vellis Hensley, departed this life
on Sunday, March 9. At the time of her death, Mrs. Hensley was eighty-four
years of age. A native of Hyden, she was the daughter of the late Matt and
Nannie Maggard Asher, born to them on May 23, 1923. Along with her parents, she
was predeceased by two brothers; Kenneth and Marcus Asher; one sister, Edith
Farmer and one grandchild, Ashley Hunley. Along with her husband, Vellis Hensley
of Corbin, she is survived by her son, Vellis Hensley, Jr. and wife Debbie of
Hazard; her brother, Mason and wife Thelma Asher of Louisville; sisters Martha
and husband Berlin Howard and Rosie Muncy, all of Indiana. She was the
grandmother of eight, Colressa Maria Hunley, Vellis Craig Hensley, Ruth Vellisa
Hensley, Nadine Marie Hensley, Allison Paige Hensley, Jacob Brendon Hensley,
Jarrod Mason Hensley and Hannah Karley Rose Hensley. She is also survived by
seven great-grandchildren and her very special friend, Ivy Mosley along with a
host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Hensley was a homemaker and a former
employee of Wise Department Store and Melton's Florist and Gift Shop. She had
been affiliated with the Laurel Chapel Christian Church and had been a resident
of Laurel County for the past twenty-two years. The family received friends on
Tuesday evening, March 11 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Hyden
where the funeral service was conducted on Wednesday afternoon, March 12, at
2:00 PM with Derek Baker, Barry Farris and James Hamblin officiating. The
burial was at the Resthaven Cemetery at Jeff. Pallbearers were Craig Hensley,
Allen Hunley, Clifton Fee, Jr., Robert Asher, Hoy Douglas Simpson, Clellan

Hinkle, Lorene Campbell ~ 66, of Deputy, Indiana and formerly of Perry County,
died Sunday, December 14 at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was born
June 4, 1942 in Perry County to parents Curtis and Allie Couch Campbell
Nadicksbernd, both of whom preceded her in death. She spent her early life in
Laurel County, moving to Deputy in 1954. She received her diploma and had
attended Ivy Tech receiving training in computers and real estate. She was
united in marriage on June 3, 1966 in Taylorsville, Indiana to Henry Hinkle. To
this union arrived one daughter to bless their home. She was employed for over
20 years at Margie’s Country Store in downtown Madison as a clerk and former
manager. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and genealogy. She was a member of the
Bethany Baptist Church in Deputy. She is survived by her husband, Henry;
daughter Karlynna Hinkle of San Antonio, Texas; step mother Myrtle Campbell of
Madison, Indiana; sisters Ollie Teltow and husband Terry of Lovette, Indiana
and Theresa Olinger of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers Don Campbell of Deputy,
Marvin Olinger of Newport, Ky., Rex Gross of Hazard and James Gross of Newport.
She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was
also preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Ison. A visitation service will be
held Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison,
Indiana and Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the Bethany
Baptist Church in Deputy, Indiana. The funeral service will be held Friday,

15, 2008 at VITAS Hospice. She was born July 29, 1940 in Hazard, KY, the
daughter of the late Marion & Bertha (Dennis) Chrisman. She was a member of the
Miamisburg (OH) Moose and the Miamisburg Eagles. Preceded in death by her
husband Michael E. Hite, a son Anthony W. Bush and a brother Curtis Chrisman.

Honeycutt, Nora Miller ~ born May 4, 1955, departed this life on Thursday, February 12 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was 53 years old at the time of her passing. She was born in Perry County, the daughter of the late Elmer Miller and the late Ada Lee Combs Miller. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Audrey Lee Mae Wooton; brothers John Wayne Miller, Charles Elmer Miller, Jackie Miller, and William Miller. She enjoyed making crafts and flowers and gardening, and has been a resident of Perry County for most of her life. Howard, Jane Couch (born Lucy J. Couch), 87, of
Camden, OH died June 21, 2008 at her home. Born July 14, 1920, in (Perry
County) Kentucky, she was the daughter of Daniel and Maude (Campbell) Couch. She
had worked for over 15 years at Dayton Flexible Corporation in Eaton, OH,
retiring in 1970. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in
Camden. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Fred
Winford Howard Sr., in 2004; sister, Marilyn Couch, in 1999; and granddaughter,
Samantha Lee Howard, in 1989. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law,
Fred and Suzanne Howard of New Paris, OH, and Donald Caudill of Salt Flat, TX;
daughters and sons-in-law, Iretta and Jack Michael of Versailles, IN, Phyllis
and John Jordan, and Lillian and Gene Caudill, all of Camden; sisters, Marie

Huff , Gertrude S. -of Milton passed away at Hanover Health Care Center on Sunday,
June 15, 2008. She was born in Hyden, KY to the late Levi and Martha Begley
Smith. Gertrude worked for the Sander Furniture Company and Morgan Canning
Factory. She read her Bible every day, enjoyed tending her flowers. Gertrude

Hurt, Lawrence -60, of Hazard passed away Wednesday, August 27. He
was the son of the late Otis Hurt and the late Nellie Mae Spicer. He is
preceded in death by one sister, Margie Fay Neace. He is survived by his
companion, Loretta Neace; daughters Marjorie Fugate, Tammy Neace Mack and
Jeanette and Ronnie Couch; son Lawrence H. Hurt; sister Brenda Williams;
brother Berchell Hurt and special friend Simon Stacy. He is also survived by
eight grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Arrangements were
handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard where the family received
friends on Friday, August 29. The funeral service was at the funeral home on
Saturday, August 30 with Carl Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial was at
Eversole Cemetery located at Lower Second Creek.

Hurt, Lawrence ~ 86, of Hazard, passed away Saturday, January 3 at 270
Stormking Road in Hazard. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was
the son of the late Elisha Hurt and the late Lula Harvey Hurt. He was also
preceded in death by his wife, Idella Hurt. He is survived by his daughters,
Dolores Ritchie Hurt and Nancy Susan Stacy Spencer; sisters Florence H. Weber,
Marie H. Combs and Zora H. Sexton; brothers Taylor, Sidney, Marshall, Arnold
and Wilbert Hurt; and grandchildren Christopher and Justin Spencer.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where
the family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7.
The funeral service will be at the chapel at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7
with Estill Sizemore and Jack Carter officiating. Interment will be at Hurt
Cemetery located at Upper Second Creek. Rites will be given by Kentucky DAV
Chapter 64 of Hazard.

Hurt, Michael ~ age 58, of Hazard, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010, at the
Hazard ARH in Hazard. He was the owner and operator of Hurt Roofing. He was the
son of Rachel Harvey Hurt and the late Robert Hurt. He is survived by his wife
Shelia Hurt; 2 sons, Christopher Micheal Hurt and Ryan Odell Hurt; 2 sisters,
Linda Hurt and Judy Elam; 1 brother, Ronnie Hurt and 1 grandchild Chloe Hurt.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 12 p.m. at the Maggard's
Mountain View Chapel with Rev. AD Pete McGee officiating. Burial followed at
the Whitaker Cemetery at Hallie under the direction of the Maggard Funeral Home
of Hazard.

Hurt, Samantha -94, of
Bonnyman, died Thursday, August 7 at her residence. She was the daughter of the
late Joe Deaton and the late Cora Williams. She is preceded in death by her
husband, Johnny Hurt; son John Hurt, Jr.; daughters Freda Wagers and Nancy
Barlowe and granddaughter Dusty Dawn. She is survived by her daughters Shirley
and John Tricker, Pat and Kerry Smith, Betty Hurt and Donna and Bob Reed; sons
Virgil and Newmeda Hurt and Bobby and Ruby Hurt; sisters Jeanetta Neace and
Melda Williams; brothers Charlie and Nancy Deaton; and special caregivers
Rachael Jones and Brenda Noble. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 63
great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Arrangements were
handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel in Hazard where the family received
friends on Sunday, August 10. The funeral service was at the chapel on Sunday,
August 10 with Virgil Hurt, Jr. officiating. Interment was at Eversole Cemetery
