Landrum, Lena Mae ~ 76, of Richmond, died Saturday, December 6 at  Hospice Compassion Care Plus in Richmond. Lena was born March 18, 1932 in  Perry County, the daughter of the late Wiremon Neace and the late Pearlie Hays  Neace. She was a member of the Dwarf Baptist Church and she loved her church  dearly. She attended Riverside Christian Training School, Lees College and  Eastern Kentucky University. She majored in elementary education and retired  after 32 years of teaching. She also loved teaching Headstart during the summer.  She was an active member of the Retired Teachers of Perry County. She loved  going to meetings and luncheons where she could visit and talk to her many  friends. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Omer Landrum;  daughter Brenda and Billy Wayne Whittaker of Richmond; granddaughter Lisa Lynn  Fugate and Ken Foley of Richmond; step grandsons Bruce and Jennifer Whittaker of  Lexington, Bryan and Nickie Whittaker of Richmond and Brent Whittaker of  Lexington; step great grandchildren Madison, Skylar and Jayce Whittaker; brother  Wilgus and Dottie Neace of Lexington; sisters-in-law Goldie Jones and Juanita  Agee and Herndon; brothers-in-law Eugene Stevens, Carter Campbell, David  Campbell and Herman Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was  preceded in death by her sisters Hazel, Ethel and Lola  Neace. Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard  where the family received friends on Monday, December 8. The funeral service was  at the chapel on Tuesday, December 9 with Rev. Amos Hamblin, Rev. Eldon Miller  and Rev. Butch Pennington officiating. Burial was at Hayes Cemetery located at  Rowdy. Pallbearers included Ken Foley, Bruce Whittaker, Bryan Whittaker,  Brent Whittaker, Ken Hensley and Tim Stevens. Lawson, Elder Bobby ~ 70, of Columbus, In., died  Wednesday, December 24 at his home. By occupation, he was retired from  Golden Foundry in 2004 after 38 years of service. He was an elder and former  deacon of the Church of the New Covenant in Austin. His hobbies included golf,  fishing, being outdoors and cars.He was born on October 19, 1938, the  son of the late Fred and Christine Stacy Lawson. He is also preceded in death by  brothers Leonard and Raymond Lawson and a sister-in-law whom he raised and  several other loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Ilene White Lawson,  whom he married on April 14, 1959 in Hazard. He is also survived by his  children, Bobby Ray and Tammy Lawson of Elizabethtown, Ed and Missy Lawson of  Hope, Tim and Melinda Lawson of Nashville, Leona and Rick Trobaugh, Randy and  Tricia Lawson, Garrett Lawson and Fred Lawson, all of Columbus; siblings Doug  Lawson of Shelbyville, Ky., Johnny and Frieda Lawson of Columbus, Sis Wilcox and  Sheila and Lonny Napier of Columbus, Debbie and Glenn Overbee and Helen Russell,  both of Hazard; grandchildren Kasey Lawson of Austin, Nolan Lawson of  Elizabethtown, Kyle, Krista and Kameron of Hope, Matt Short, Emma and Job Lawson  of Nashville, Theron and Tylor Trobaugh and Hanna Lawson, Alicia Crank, Audrey  Lawson, Delcie and Stacey Pace, all of Columbus. Leedy, Julian Callaway - passed away comfortably in his home surrounded by  devoted family members on Sunday, July 20. He was born April 7, 1916. His  parents were George and Sallie Callaway Leedy. He married Isaballe Bullard Leedy  on May 8, 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two children,  Michael Leedy and Mary Bryan Leedy. He is survived by his children,  Jacqueline Campbell, Sally Leedy Moore and Hunter, Bruce Leedy and Arlene, and  Julia Leedy Gentry and Larry; 10 grandchildren - Andy Campbell, Maury Campbell  and Beth, Travis Moore, Bryan Moore, Angela Barnett and Steve, JB Leedy,  Elizabeth Leedy, Cpl. C. Tucker Gentry, Griffin Gentry, Caitlin Gentry; seven  great grandchildren - Maureen and Curtis Campbell, Jackson, Will and Clay Moore,  Austin and Victoria Barnett; brother
Jack Leedy; sisters-in-law Jacqueline  Petrey, Betty Leedy, and Mary Willis Bullard. Mr. Leedy graduated from  Bowling Green Business School, arrived in Hazard in 1936 where he worked as an  accountant until his death. Throughout these many years, he worked for many  people in the coal business. He has a tremendous work ethic and was quite an  inspiration to all who were around him. Thanks to his friends, who in later  years, made sure he was able to attend meetings of the Hazard Lions Club and  other activities. It meant so much to him. He loved his home and yard, gaining great satisfaction from his labors.  He has such a great love and knowledge for landscaping and his flowers, which he  fortunately passed on to his children and daughter-in-law. Family was so  important to Mr. Leedy. He took great pride in planning the “Family Trips” each  summer. His love of travel continued through his 90th year. He always wanted to  go and see all that was possible. We, as his children and spouses,  grandchildren and great grandchildren, wish to thank him and remember him as a  kind, living man who instilled in us a great work ethic and a passion to do  what’s right in life. We will miss him terribly. Visitation was held  Tuesday, July 22 at Maggard’s Mountain View Chapel. The funeral service will be  conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday (today) at the chapel with Rev. Jack Whitaker and  Rev. Haliburton Greer officiating. Burial will take place in the Riverside  Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Bryan Moore, JB Leedy, Griffin Gentry,  John Delpont, Dustin Duff, Bill Gorman, Gary Lindon and Jimmy Lindon. Lewis,  Edward -age 74, of Hyden, KY, died Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hazard, KY. He was the son of the late Arthur Lewis and Sally Ann Howard.  He is preceded in death by three brothers-Lidge, Bill and Charles and two sisters-Oda and Elva Lee.  He is survived by his wife, Juanita Lewis; three daughters-Charlotte Wilder, Teresa Cooper and Kathy Adams; one son, James Dean Couch; five sisters and one special grandchild, John Wiley Couch, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, KY.  Funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 3, 2005.  Interment at Howard Family Cemetery in Hyden, KY.

Lewis, Orpha Feltner ~ born April 3, 1938, departed this life on Thursday,  April 23 at the Hazard ARH medical center. She was 71 years and 20 days of age  at the time of her passing. Orpha was born at Butterfly, Kentucky and  was a life long resident of Perry County. She was the daughter of the late Lexie  Feltner and the late Zola Fields Feltner. She was a homemaker by occupation who  greatly enjoyed sewing and reading her Bible. Orpha was preceded in  death by her parents; her husband Troy Lewis; brothers Festus Feltner, Doris  Feltner, and Hansford Feltner; sisters Jean Huff, Nancy Wilson, and Ruby  Holland; and half-brother Buster Fields. She is survived by son Troy K.  Lewis of Busy, Kentucky; daughters Peggy Pennington of Hazard, Kentucky,  Patricia Lewis Bailey, and Judy L. Brock, both of Busy, Kentucky; brothers Arkie  Feltner of Busy, Kentucky, Bransford Feltner of Wooton, Kentucky, Omar Feltner  of Yerkes, Kentucky, and Lexie Darrell Feltner of Hazard, Kentucky; sisters  Bethel Baker of Busy, Kentucky and Edith Holland of Typo, Kentucky; 8  grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and  friends. Funeral services were held at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home of  Hazard on Sunday, April 26. Lindon, Linda Carol -born on July 20, 1947, departed this life on June 30 at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 10 days. She was born in Toner, Ky. and had been a life long resident of Perry County. She was the daughter of the late William Forrest Shackleford and Goldie Evelyn Reeves Shackleford. By occupation she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father, William Forest Shackleford, and husband Sammy Wayne Lindon. She leaves the following relatives surviving: mother Goldie Shackleford of Winchester, Ky., son Sammy Lindon, Jr. of Hazard; daughter Evelyn Denise Holliday of Hazard; brothers Bill Shackleford of Jackson, Ky., John Shackleford of Stanton, Ky. and David Shackleford of Ashland, Ky.; sisters Connie Thomas of Mississippi and Ellen Swetnam of Winchester; grandchildren Christopher, Vanessa and Holly; great grandchildren Andrea and Kristen. Lozier, Janice V. ~ 84, of Bristol, Ct., loving wife of 52  years to Gilbert J. Lozier, died Friday, December 5 at home. Janice was  born in Viper, Ky. on February 24, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Roy and  Ethel (Brashear) Cody.  She worked as a clerk for Marlin-Rockwell for 32  years. Janice will be forever remembered for her elegance, kind heart and most  gentle spirit.  She and Gil were blessed to be able to travel extensively  throughout the United States and Europe.  During their travels they made  many lifelong friends, who will miss her deeply.  Janice's keen passion was  her family. In addition to her husband, Gil, and their beloved dog, Toby,  she leaves behind her sisters, Ava Hall, Moonyne Wright and her husband, George,  her brothers, Bobby Cody and his wife Faye, all of Hazard, Kentucky, and Elford  Cody and his wife, Evie of Benton, Arkansas.  Janice was predeceased by her  six siblings, Bill, America Ellen, Thermal, Harlan, Delmar and James  Cody. Funeral rites for Janice were held Tuesday, December 9 at 8:30 a.m.  with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale  Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, Ct. followed by a Liturgy of  Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Avenue,  Forestville, Ct. Lykins, Freda Mae Farrell -the wife of Leo Lykins,  passed away on Friday, January 18, at the Hazard A.R.H. Hospital. At the time of  her death, she was eighty years of age. She was the daughter of the late William  B. and Jewel Woodall Farrell. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death  by one sister and two brothers. Along with her husband, Mrs. Lykins is  survived by two daughter, Judy Combs and Glynda Lykins and one son, Leo Lykins,  Jr., all of Hazard. She is also survived by her sister, Wanda Ashley of Erlanger  and her brother, Elmer Farrell of Independence. She was the grandmother of six  and great-grandmother of seven. The family received friends on Saturday  evening, January 19, at Maggard Brothers Funeral Home where the funeral service was conducted on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Buddy Turner  officiating. Interment was at the Riverside Cemetery in Hazard. All  arrangements were entrusted to the staff of Maggard Brothers Funeral  Home
