Parker, Robert F. "Rick" Jr. Age 63 of Gas City, IN passed away April 17, 2008. Rick was born in Hazard, KY on November 24, 1944 to Robert F. and Leona H. (Haney) Parker, Sr., and they preceded him in death. He was a Sergeant and served in the United States Marines from 1965 - 1968. He worked for General Motors in Hamilton, OH and transferred to Marion in 1987. He then retired in 1998 after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, and sports, and watching the Colts, Bengals, and IU Basketball. He was a wonderful father and friend, and loved his children and grandchildren very much. He loved to cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Fuchs. He is survived by his children, Mitchell Parker of Hamilton, OH, Tracy (Aaron) Vaughn with a newborn on the way, Stacey Parker and Rikki Fuchs, all of Gas City, IN; grandchildren Kaylee Parker and Aiden Fuchs; Brother John (Anita) Parker of GA; the mother of his children, Wanda Parker; the families of Elbert and Wanda Rush of Hamilton, OH; and several nieces and nephews. Private visitation will be held on April 21, 2008 at New Hope Baptist church, 800 E. South C Street, Gas City, IN, with the Reverend Mick Simpkins officiating. Patrick, Tony ~ age 42, of Middletown, Ohio, formerly of Hazard, passed away
July 31, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Hazard on April 26, 1967.
He was a loving father, husband, and a son who loved to garden and enjoyed
nature and was an avid music fan. Mr. Patrick is survived by his wife, Amy
Jones Patrick, 1 son: Austin Patrick, 1 daughter: Bryanna Patrick, his
mother, Glenda Patrick Cook, 1 brother: Terry Cook, Jr., sister: Kristi
(Bobby) Craft, and his mother-in-law: Cornelia Jones, and numerous aunts,
uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.Tony was preceded in death by
his grandmother Sylvania Reedy. Funeral services were held 12 noon on
Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at the Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home
Chapel. Burial followed at the Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio.

Pebley, M. Sue ~ age 57 of
Fairborn, OH passed
away February 23, 2009
in the Hospice of Dayton.
She was born March 7, 1951 in Perry County, KY, the daughter of Alonzo and
Virginia (Miller) Jones. Sue was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte
Joann (Jones) Williams and a sister-in-law, Deborah (Lawson) Jones. She is
survived by her husband of 15 years, Steve, who she married on June 4, 1993;
two daughters, Casey Setser and husband Jeremiah of Fairborn, OH and Tracy
(Hall) O'Brian of GA; her parents of Fairborn; three step-children, Angel
Pebley of Xenia, OH, Anna Pebley of Xenia and Ryan Pebley of Fairborn; seven
grandchildren, Azaray, Noel, Brandon, Caleb, Mahala, Miah and Logan; a
great-granddaughter, Ava Grace; a brother, Danny Jones of Fairborn; three
sisters, Diane Peters and husband Tim of Fairborn, Pam Steplowski of Dayton, OH, Sabrina
Jones of Fairborn as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended
family. The family will receive friends on
February 26, 2009 from
6 until 8 p.m. in the Belton Stroup Funeral Home,
422 E. Dayton Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn where a funeral service
will be held on February 27,

Pendleton, Edith L. -the wife of James C.
Pendleton, Sr. of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 17, at
Hickory Creek of Madison, Madison, Indiana. At the time of her death, she
was eighty-five years of age. Mrs. Pendleton, a native of Lawrenceburg,
Indiana, retired in 1984 as a nurse at King's Daughters Hospital where she
had help start the first Intensive Care Unit. She attended nurses training
at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduation, she enlisted in
the Army Nurse Corp during WWII. She and her husband served as Co-Mayors for
the Canaan Fall Festival in 2000. She was also an active member of the
Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church and was a delegate for the Southeastern area
of Indiana on the American Baptist Churches USA General Board in Valley
Forge, PA. She also served in various missionary societies. Mrs.
Pendleton, who graduated from the Lawrenceburg, Indiana, High School in
1940, was a member of the American Legion, Post #9, and she had been active
in Senior Citizens groups. A talented artist and quilter, she will be
remembered as a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Pendleton was preceded in
death by her parents, Henry Fred and Wilamina Steiner Morling and one
brother, Fred Henry Morling. Along with her husband, whom she married on
September 7, 1946, she is survived by two sons, James C. Pendleton, Jr. and
wife Theresa of New Washington, Indiana and John and wife Carol Pendleton of
Columbus, Indiana; three daughters, Barbara and husband Nic Peitrangelo of
Grand Haven, Michigan, Willa and hus Tom Vire of Martin, Georgia and Ellen
and husband Rich Kurr of Stow, Ohio; two sisters, Katherine and husband Bill
Franz of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and Ruth and husband Steve McMullen of
Hamilton, Ohio. She was the grandmother of Shawn Powell, Anna, Joe and
Rachel Pietrangelo, J.T., Joshua and Jarrett Vire, James Douglas, Lindsay
and Jonathon Pendleton and Brian and Alex Kurr. She is also survived by
seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will
receive friends on Thursday evening, from 4-8:00 PM at the Vail-Holt Funeral
Home's Hilltop Chapel. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday
morning, March 21, at 11:00 AM at the Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church with
Rev. Donald J. Burke and Rev. Ed Roberts officiating. Interment will be at
Canaan Cemetery. The Honor Guard of the American Legion Post #9 will
conduct military services at the gravesite. Contributions cards will be
available at the funeral home and at the church Vail-Holt Funeral Homes
Hilltop Chapel, Madison, Indiana, is in charge of all arrangements.

Petrey, Jacquelin Bullard -born October 23, 1914 in Warren, Ky., departed this life on October 29 in Versailles. At the time of her passing she was 94 years and six days of age. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Hazard. Preceding her in death were her husband, Paul H. Petrey, her parents, Isabelle Ramsey and Clifford S. Bullard, three brothers, Fred (Mary Willis) Bullard, Eugene Bullard and Clifford Bullard; two sisters, Grace (John) Copeland and Isabelle (Julian) Leedy. She is survived by a daughter, Sarah and Gary Strange of Oak Park, Ill.; sons Harman and Lisa Petrey of Hazard, Jack Petrey of Lawrenceburg and Stan Petrey of Hustonville, Ky. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Paul Petrey, Margaret and Randy Pelley, Kathryn Petrey, Jackie and Stu Kim, Betsy and Louis Dominguez, Lane Alexandra Petrey, Erin Petrey and five great grandchildren, Morgan Pelley, Cheyenne Pelley, Neave O’ Callaghan, Jake Dominguez, Jack Dominguez and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. There is no public visitation or funeral service. A memorial service and interment will be held at the Englewood Cemetery in Hazard at a later date. Pfaff, Jack Lee -70, of Lebanon, OH died December 29, 2008. Born on March 10, 1938 in Hazard, KY to Carl and Frances Pfaff, he was a theater manager of Act 1 Movie Theater in Sharonville, OH. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Carlo, and sister Carletta, survivors include sons, Michael Pfaff and Jamison Pfaff of Mason, OH and their mother Michele Pfaff of Mason, brothers, Herbert and Herman Pfaff, and sisters, Patricia, Sandy, and Sesta. Pigman, Ruth W. - of Hazard, the widow of Fred M. Pigman, passed away on Friday, March 14, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. At the time of her death, she was sixty-seven years of age. Along with her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Taylor Wells and Gladys Adams Wells. Mrs. Pigman is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Day; her sons, Kenny and Mike Hawkins and Dennis Pigman; her sisters, Lula Downs, Gene Killen, Faye Dotson, Gracie and Judy Wells; her brothers, Kyle Wells, Kenneth Wells, Bill Wells and Cletus Wells Along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, she is also survived by her six grandchildren. The family received friends on Monday evening at the Maggard Mountain View Chapel. The funeral service was conducted on Tuesday afternoon, March 18, at 1:00 PM at the Community Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dana Feltner officiating. Interment was at the Riverside Cemetery. Poloski, Josephine ~ age 83 of Hazard, passed away
April 9, 2009 at the Hazard ARH. She was born in Perry County on March 31,
1925, to the late Ed and Elizabeth Petrey. She was the wife of the late
Walter Poloski. She is survived by nephews: Robert Lee Noble and Randall
Noble of Fisty. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 10,
2009, at the Noble Family Cemetery at Clear Creek at Fisty with Arthur
Holland officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Nelson
Frazier Funeral Home of Hindman.

Polly, Dexter -age 80, of Bean Station, passed away on Tuesday, June
24 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was retired from the
Navy having served in World War II, Korea and the start of Vietnam. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Lovell and Susanna Polly; brother Tommy
Dale Polly and father-in-law Darlie Brown. He is survived by his wife of 52
years, Janet Polly; children Darlie James Polly, Shannon Polly Degenhardt,
Brian Donald Polly, and LeAnna Polly Parks; grandchildren Christopher R.
Degenhardt. Megan D. Polly, Matthew E. Polly, Dexter G. Polly, Natasha
Rednour, Sarah C. Major, Mark Hudson, Andrew Steinberg, Cameron Cornwell and
A.J. Thomas; sisters Lucy P. Combs of Atlanta and Mickie Brown of White
Pine; and mother-in-law Evalee Brown. Funeral services were held Saturday,
June 28 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Dixon officiating.
Interment will follow in the Harrell Cemetery in Bean Station. The family
received friends on Friday, June 17 at the funeral home. Arrangements were
handled by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown, Tn.

Powell, Edith ~ 95, of Hazard, passed away Thursday, March 19 at a
descendant's residence in Hazard. She was the daughter of the late Melve
Blanton and the late Clarkie Howard. She is survived by her daughter, Diane and
Dwight Sexton; son Joseph C. and Sue Powell of Colorado Springs; sister Doxie
Randall; brother John Watson; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Powell. Arrangements were
handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family received
friends on Sunday, March 22. The funeral service was at the chapel on Monday,
March 23 with Buddy Turner officiating. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery
located in Hazard

Prater, Holly Marie (nee Kinross) of Mason, Ohio. Beloved and loving wife of Michael Prater for 22 special years. Caring mother of Eric, Daron and Adam Prater. Dear loving daughter of Ralph and Marge Kinross. Dear sister of Todd (Karen) Kinross. Holly is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends. Holly passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the age of 42. She loved and lived life to its fullest while inspiring all those around her through her incredible courage, strength and will to live. Holly attended the University of Louisville on a swimming scholarship and received her degree in Dental Hygiene in 1986. Friends were received to celebrate Holly’s life on Friday, June 20th from 6 to 9 p.m. at the St. Margaret of York Catholic Church, 9483 Columbia Rd., Loveland. Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mason, Ohio. Pratt,
Charles Burgiss -the husband of Elizabeth Ann Pratt, passed away at their
residence in Viper on Sunday, February 3. At the time of his death, he was 87
years of age. The son of the late Powell and Martha Watts Pratt, he was also
preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Along with his widow, he is
survived by four sons, Darrell Pratt of Leatherwood, Patrick Steven Campbell,
James Gordan Caldwell and Weston Powell Pratt, all of Hazard. He is also
survived by his sister, Marie Caudill of Leatherwood, his nine grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren .The family will receive friends this evening,
Wednesday, February 6, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Maggards Mountain View Chapel
which is where the funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday,
with Rev. Karl Baker and Rev. Dean DeMaris officiating. Interment will be at
the Campbell Family Cemetery at Viper. DAV Rites will be done by Chapter 64.All
arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Maggards Mountain View Chapel.

Pratt, Dennis ~ 77, of Viper, died Monday, December 8 at the Hazard ARH Medical
Center. He was retired from the ARH hospital after 23 years of service. Mr.
Pratt is survived by his wife, Rosie, of Viper; daughters Brenda Pratt, Martha
Cornett, Nancy Howard, Denise Hall and Wonda Pratt; sons Willard Pratt, Paul
Pratt and Matthew Pratt. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12
great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. The
funeral services for Mr. Pratt will be held Thursday, December 11 at 11 a.m. at
the Middle Fork Church of Christ in Viper with Junior Shell, Mike Hall and J.C.
Turner officiating. Burial will take place at Pratt Cemetery located in
Sassafras. The visitation will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10 at
the church. Brashear-Callahan Funeral Home of Viper is in charge of
arrangements.
