Taylor, Mike ~ 48, of Newport, formerly of Hazard, passed  away Wednesday, Dec. 17. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Taylor  and his grandmother, Cora McDaniel.  He was a US Army Gulf Storm veteran  and was the past commander of VFW John R. Little Post 3186.  He is survived  by his wife,   Donna Taylor of Newport;  two sons,  Brandon  and wife, Ashleigh Taylor of Newport and Steven Taylor and special friend,  Christina Odor of Newport;  two sisters, Charlie and husband, Ernie  Pennington of Hazard and Lisa and husband, Matthew Hollins of Jackson;   three brothers, Bob Taylor of Rowdy, Ed Taylor of Rowdy and Jimbo Taylor of Lost  Creek;  and a host of family and friends.  Funeral

Tepker, Marie Colwell -Age 91 of Hamilton, OH passed away in University Hospital, Cincinnati on November 10, 2008. She was born in Perry County, KY on February 6, 1917 the daughter of Samuel and Martha (Williams) Colwell. Marie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Ladies Aid Society and the Tuesday morning Bible study group. In 1963 in Darrtown, she married Carl J. Tepker, Sr., and he preceded her in death in 1985. She is survived by five children, Gail (Bill) Phelps, Carl (Carolyn) Tepker Jr., Marcia (Bob) Day, Timothy (Martha) Tepker, and Susan Buell, all of Hamilton, OH; a sister, Ruthene Fugate of Ezel, KY; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Don Campbell and Barbara Robertson; and eight siblings. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on November 14, 2008 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Kevin Judd of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home 2 hours prior to service. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Christian Service Committee.

Thacker, Clyde -81, of New Carlisle, OH died September 9, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center - East High Street Campus. He was born February 9, 1927 in Hazard, KY, the son of Thomas and Callie (Price) Thacker. He was a faithful and devoted member of Medway Baptist Church. Clyde served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was retired from Chrysler Airtemp in Dayton. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Robert Hujo of Mason, OH; four sisters, Geneva Pelfrey, Mae Haney, Edith Pack all of Springfield, OH and Stella Pierman of IN; sister-in-law, Ann Bumbalough of Englewood, OH; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several devoted nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sylvia "Louise" in 2001; two sons, Ricky and Jimmy; five brothers and two sisters. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed. A gathering of family and friends will be held September 12, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. September 13, 2008, with Pastor Melvin VanSickle officiating. Toler, Alma Ray -born February 4, 1930 in Hazard, departed this life on Monday, October 6 at her residence in Gainesville, Ga. At the time of her passing she was 78 years, eight months and two days of age. By occupation she was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, canning food and making expensive quilts. She was also a member of the Combs Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Polly Herald Sebastian; husband Richard Toler, Jr. and brothers Ray Sebastian, Jr. and Wesley Sebastian. She is survived by her sons Ova Toler and Elizabeth of Gainesville, Rocky Toler and Connie of Emmitt, Ky.; daughter Nannie Mae Toler and Dave Crocker of Bowling Green; brothers Walker Sebastian and Christina of Loraine, Ohio Samuel Sebastian and Dorothy of Loraine, Ohio, Paul David Sebastian and Norma Jean of Newport, James Edward Sebastian and Juanita of Combs; sisters Mae Burnett of Newport, Irene Campbell and Dale of Combs, Fannie Ruth Caldwell and James of Frogtown, Mary Ann Miller and Martin of Christopher; 14 grandchildren and host of great grandchildren. Trissel, Martha Doris Gibson Smith - went home to be with the Lord on February 26, 2008 at Sycamore Hospital. Martha was born on August 24, 1931 to Holt and Myrtle Gibson, in Buckhorn, KY. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila; son, James; their father Hershel Smith; and son, Eddie Trissel. She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Robert L. Trissel; children, Shirley Smith Ewert, Nashville, TN, Jeffery and Teresa Smith, Whitley City, KY, Sandy Davis and Jon Smith, Dayton, OH; grandchildren, Dylan and Georgia Fogle, Nashville, TN, Zach, Abe, and Ben Bell, Dayton, OH, Megan and Josh Breeding, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Lauren and Jared Smith, Miamisburg, OH, Melisa Hertz, TX, Mariah Smith, Vandalia, OH, Chris and Jason Trissel, Dayton, OH; great-grandchildren, Caleb Fogle, Nashville, TN Abigail Ballinger, Miamisburg, Chloe Breeding, Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Martha was blessed to be a part of a large, loving family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Astor Gibson, and her sisters, Essie McConnell, Grace Smith, and Ruth Deaton. She is survived by the remaining sisters, Mary Lee Johnson, Sally Estes, Louise and Roscoe Smith, Betty Jean and Claude Gay, Bobbi Jo and Charles Stewart, all of OH, and Naomi Cole, of MI. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Viewing will be held March 1, 2008 from 11 - 1:30 at Lighthouse Baptist Temple, 4033 Highway 123, Franklin, OH with services to follow at 1:30. She will be interred at Carlisle Cemetery, Carlisle, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Turner, Carla Don -51, of Hazard, died Saturday, November  22 at the Hazard ARH. She was the daughter of Edward Earl Salley and  Eunice Faye Burton Salley. She is preceded in death by one granddaughter,  Lilly Paige Hall and brother Jackie Wayne Salley. She is also survived by  her husband, Billy Edward Turner; daughters Susan Leigh Hall, Rebecca Ann Turner  and Jaclyn Michelle Turner; son Matthew Edward Turner; sisters Janice Faye  Prewitt; brothers Edward Glen Salley and Johnny Ray Salley; grandchildren Morgan  Robinson, Jake Hall, Matt Robinson, Tyson
Turner, Emily Hall and Kaitlyn  Grigsby. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and  friends. Arrangements  were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel where the family received friends  Tuesday, November 25. The funeral services will be conducted at the chapel  Wednesday, November 26 at 1 p.m. with Robert Lee Terry officiating. Burial will  be at Resthaven Cemetery in Jeff.

Turner, Wilton -of Somerset passed away at the Lexington VA Memorial Center on Tuesday, January 22.  The native of Hazard was the son of the late Lige and Ella T. Turner, being born to them on October 28, 1926.  He was 81 years of age at the time of his death.  Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Turner and two sisters, Loretta Rich and Evelyn Turner. Mr. Turner was a veteran of the United States Army.  During the Korean conflict, from 1950-1952, he served in the Army with entertainer Roy Clark, and the two of them cut an album together later on.  He was the first person drafted from Perry county, and he was also the first person to return home after being wounded in action.  After his time in the military, he was employed as a TV technician at Shillito's, a position he held for twenty years, from which he retired in 1981.  He was a member of the American Legion #38 in Somerset and was honored by being named a Kentucky Colonel in 1990.  During his retirement, he enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing and following the U of K Wildcats. He is survived by a son, Robert and wife Alisa Turner; two daughters, Tammy and husband Richard Ulreich and Patty Turner-Felts, all residents of Hamilton, Ohio; his loving companion, Sue Dyer of Somerset; his former spouse and special friend, Mary Lou and husband Earmel Cain of Cincinnati, Ohio; his four grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Dave Keivel, Kelly Ulreich, Melissa Turner and Brittany Felts; two great-grandchildren , Kaley Turner-Specht and Kya Smith; two brothers, Vernon Turner of Hazard and Harold Turner of Birmingham, Alabama; two sisters, Betty Lou and husband Don Cress and Faye and husband Leonard Grigsby, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, along with numerous other relatives and friends. A memorial service was held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Sunday, January 27, at 2:00 PM.  The family received friends until the service hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Animal Friends Humane Society, 5225 Trenton Road, Trenton, Ohio 45067 or to HART, PMB #222, 11711 Princeton Pike, Suite 341, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246.The staff at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home was entrusted with all arrangements.
