ANDY BROWN

Andy Brown was born on November 5, 1949 to Joe and Lousinda (Stamper) Brown of Lackey, Kentucky.  Andy, the eldest son, learned the value of hard work early in life as he began working in cornfields at the age of four.  However, his parents knew the value of an education as  they send Andy to Larkslane Grade School and Hindman High School. In July of 1969, Andy was inducted into the United States Army and  served in Vietnam in 1970.  During his tour of duty, he stepped on a  land mine and was seriously injured.  Andy was honorably discharged in  February of 1972, with several awards, including the distinguished Purple Heart.  In 1971, Andy met and married Edna Green Brown and had two daughters, Anita Brown Dixon and Denise Brown. Andy Brown is a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend.  He helped to organize the  Jones Fork Volunteer Fire Department and also was a member of the Garrett Volunteer Fire Department.  Andy rarely meets a stranger and is willing to lend  a helping hand when needed most. He has touched many lives in Jones Fork  community-it is impossible to mention them all.  Andy enjoys spending time with his three grandchildren, Derrick Tyler Dixon ,Natasha LaRae Bolen, and Jacob Stanley Bolen.
