GOD GAVE US MEMORIES SO THAT WE MIGHT HAVE ROSES IN DECEMBER

A MAN OF FEW WORDS

The first seven years of my life have some of the warmest memories. To this
very day my surroundings and events are very vivid and I can recall them as
if I were still there.  This story is about Sie Martin, better known as "Poppy" the
s/o of Silas Martin & Millie "Dollie" Hall Martin.  I lived with Poppy and my
Granny the first few years of my life and this is a reflection of a precious and
cherished memory of a man I loved very much.  He and my Granny were two
of the most loving people I have ever known in my life.  We didn't have a lot
of material things but they gave me so much of themselves and that's
treasure that is priceless.   ...Gloria Martin Marcum

MIRROR IMAGE

After my mother died I moved into her big old house in Mousie, Ky.
Being an only child I felt it was my privilege to grieve alone.
My mother was almost 42 when I was born. She was a remarkable woman.
We were very close. Like the joke, “Mirror Mirror on the wall, I am my mother after all.”
