GOD GAVE US MEMORIES SO THAT WE MIGHT
HAVE ROSES IN DECEMBER

The first seven years of my life
have some of the warmest memories. To this
very day my surroundings and events are very vivid and I can recall them as
if I were still there. This story is about Sie Martin, better known as
"Poppy" the
s/o of Silas Martin & Millie "Dollie" Hall Martin. I lived with Poppy
and my
Granny the first few years of my life and this is a reflection of a precious and
cherished memory of a man I loved very much. He and my Granny were two
of the most loving people I have ever known in my life. We didn't have a lot
of material things but they gave me so much of themselves and that's
treasure that is priceless. ...Gloria Martin Marcum

MIRROR IMAGE
After my mother died I moved into her big old house in
Mousie, Ky.
Being an only child I felt it was my privilege to grieve alone.
My mother was almost 42 when I was born. She was a remarkable woman.
We were very close. Like the joke, “Mirror Mirror on the wall, I am my mother
after all.”
