GRIFFIN, CORBITT S. -It is with great sadness, and with a lonely heart I will try to write an obituary of my dearly beloved husband, Corbitt Griffin. He was the son of Hardin and Tempie Griffin and was born April 23, 1919. He deceased this life January 18, 1961, making his stay on earth 41 years, 8 months, and 24 days. he was married to Vernie Ison in 1941. To this union were born five children who are left to mourn his loss, one boy, Corbitt S. Griffin Jr. 18, and four girls, Judy Rad 14, Mary Ethel 13, Tonda 10, and Ronda 2 years old.Corbitt always loved to go to The Old Regular Baptist Church and it was the only church he believed in. He had a heart attack on January 11 and lived one week. While he lay in the hospital I would tell him not to worry. He would say that he had nothing to worry about. Once he said, "I will never worry again."For about two months before he died he was always talking like he was not to live long. I do believer our great loss is heaven's gain. And if we do the will of the Lord, we will meet him again some day.

HONEYCUTT, BRO. GREEN -It is with a sad and broken heart that we attempt to write the obituary of our dear friend and husband of Mary Bell Honeycutt, Green Honeycutt. He was born July 20, 1885 and departed this life November 10, 1960 making his stay here on earth 75 years, 8 months, and 10 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Honeycutt, and was married to Mary Belle Slone March 1945. He left his wife, Mary Bell, Honeycutt, two step children, Jennie and Pete, one sister, Tina Campbell, one brother, Wallace Honeycutt, and a host of friends to mourn his loss. He professed a hope in Christ and joined the Reynolds Fork Regular Baptist Church on the day of 4th Sunday in July 1945 and was baptized by Elders Nelson Seals and Elam Hale and was a faithful member to his church. In his passing, his wife has lost a loving companion, his step children a loving step father, his church a consecrated member, and his community a well loved citizen who will be greatly missed, but we feel our loss is heaven's gain.
A loving one from us is gone, A voice we love is still
His place is vacant in our home, that never can be filled.
We loved him, o we loved him, but angels loved him more
That have come and called him, to yonder shining shore.
The golden gates are open, a gentle voice said come on
And with farewell unspoken, he gladly entered home.
Written by A. J. Taylor for his wife and step children.

OWENS, SISTER RACHEL-It is with much sadness and regret that I will try to write this obituary of Sister Rachel Owens. In the year of 1895 on the 21st day of February, Sister Rachel was born into the home of Henry and Sarah Conley in Johnson county, Kentucky, and on November 15, 1913 she was united in marriage with Jeff Owens and unto this union were born five children (all living) 3 daughters and two sons, to wit: Margie Slone, Bypro, Ky., Deletha Baldridge, Dillsboro, Ind., Daisy Cornett, Carrie, Ky., Edgar Owens, Kendallville, Ind., Ellis Owens, Yellow Springs, Ohio. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, and was loved by all who knew her, and was mother to every little child in the neighborhood in which she lived. In fact, for the last seven years she had been raising a little orphan girl, Brenda Owens, and was "Ma" to all the little children. Her doors were ever open and there was food for all who came. She always looked forward to seeing her sisters and brothers come visit her and having church in her home.About eight or nine years ago she professed hope in Christ and was baptized taking up fellowship with the New Home Church of Old Regular Baptist faith and order and as a faithful member until death. In the year of 1957 she was afflicted with that dreadful disease, cancer, and after undergoing an operation she suffered three years of pain and affliction with patience, and on April 21, 1960 at 11:25 o'clock the death angel visited her home and took Sister Rachel out of her pain and the blessed Lord received her spirit home.Besides her husband, Jeff, and five children she is survived by 27 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, four brothers, five sisters, and a host of friends and relatives to mourn her loss by we sincerely believe that our loss is her eternal gain. Two of her daughters are following in the example that mother set and unto the other children I want to plead, please forsake the world, and worldly things and repent and meet mother again where disease and death don't come, as you all well know that this was her heart's desire, so with you I plead, don't trample down mother's prayers for today is the day of decision; tomorrow may be too late.By Elder Olus Baldridge

SPARKMAN, IRA G. -Ira G. Sparkman, better known as "Boy" was born November 1, 1885. Deceased January 14, 1960. He was born and raised on Caney Creek at Pippa Passes, Ky. In early life he was wed to Sara Margaret Watts. To this union were born ten children; five boys and five girls. The boys, Marion, Fred, Irvin, Gomer and Ray. The girls, Ollie, Stella, Bertha, Kattie and Sally."Boy" joined the Old Regular Baptist Church December Second Sunday 1913 at the New Home Church in which he was a faithful member until death. He was faithful to fill his seat in the church. He took sick about five years ago, but three months ago he quit going in and out, becoming day by day worse. His children waited upon him by giving every thing the heart wanted, but still they had to stand back when the death Angel came. His passing to him was a great blessing. But, to the children a shock. Regardless of how ill one becomes we want to keep them just as long as possible. Grandchildren and his friends, we feel that our loss is Heavens gain, and if you want to meet dad and mom again you must prepare in this life.He leaves to mourn his passing, nine children, sixty-nine grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, four brothers; Crit, Wess, John and Troy. Four sisters; Ruthie Isabelle, Alley, and Beckey. A large host of friends and neighbors. Written by Elder Bert Howard

WATTS, HARLIN -It is with much sadness that I attempt to write an obituary of our dear dad. To wit: Harlin Watts. Dad was born June 6, 1877 and deceased December 22, 1959, making his stay on earth 82 years, 6 months and 16 days. He was united to Sallie Pratt in matrimony June 15, 1897. Unto this union were born ten children. His companion and two children preceded him in death; leaving eight children, fifty-six grand children, and fifty-one great-grandchildren to mourn his loss. Although beyond a reasonable doubt, our loss is His eternal gain.He and mom joined the church and were baptized into the fellowship of the New Home Church the 2nd Sunday in September, 1913. Dad served the church as deacon about 45 years and was never called in question in all his fellowship with the church. There is no use for me, as weak and unworthy as I feel, to try to write a long obituary for his life means more in the minds and hearts of all that knew him, than all I could write in a lifetime. So, to all his children and offsprings of his body--if you ever want to see dad again, you must fall out with sin, and let his God be your God. And may the spirit of the good Lord lead, guide and direct you all to walk in his foot-steps, so we all can lived with dad and mom forever after death.
His unworthy son and brother, in hope of eternal life. Jerome Watts
