OBITUARIES-1974
 

FIELDS, LENA MAE AND MONROE--With a sad heart I will try to write the obituaries of my beloved parents. Lena Mae Madden Fields. Born March 20,1913. Deceased April 4, 1972. Making her stay on earth 59years 10 days. Monroe was born August 3, 1910. Deceased May 12, 1972. Making his stay on earth 61 years 9 months and 9 days. They were married April 25, 1933 to this union was born 3 children. Marie Cornett, Austin, Indiana; Mildred Jent Amburgey, Ky; James H. Fields Scottsburg, Indiana.  Nine grandchildren to mourn their passing. Mom joined the Little Home Church of Old Regular Baptist faith and order March 1945 and lived a good and faithful life until God called her home to live with Him. Dad didn't join the church, But I believe with all my heart he is resting with mom in the arm of God. Until we meet again

SMITH, MATILDA JANE -- Matilda Jane Smith, daughter of Rosen and Rainey Shepherd was born December 31, 1888 in Jackson County Kentucky. In 1907she married Elias Shepherd; and to this union three children were born; Myrtle Jones, Maxine Hall, and Martha Helton. Elias died September 28, 1912. In 1923 Matilda married Robert Smith; and to this union three children were born; Mattie Lou Smith, David Smith, and Phillip Smith. Phillip preceded her in death in October 1955. Robert Smith preceded her in death in November 1959.She was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. She loved the church and was faithful to attend as long as she was able to go. Besides her children she leaves behind three sisters Mrs. Mary Dixon, Mrs. Corby Shepherd, and Mrs. Mattie Halcomb, two brothers Phillip and Leonard Shepherd, Three brothers Troy, Chris, and Danny Shepherd preceded her in death She also leaves 15 grandchildren 38 great-grandchildren. one great-grandchild and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing. We feel that our loss is Heaven's gain. Our hope is to meet Mother again someday.
