She was a quiet and peaceful sister who showed much love and kindness. She loved to go to church to be with her brothers and sisters and sing the old songs of Zion. I could tell when she was enjoying the good old time preaching which fed her soul and caused it to run over with joy of the Lord. I knew she wanted everyone to walk the path of God with her and we believe she is resting with God in Heaven. So farewell my love ones for just a little while.

Amburgey, Laura C.-With a sad and lonely heart, I will try to write the obituary of my dear "Mother". She was born on July 2, 1899 making her stay here on earth 92 years. She passed away on her birthday, July 2, 1991. She was the daughter of the late William Riley and Sallie Calihan erase. At the age of 16 she met and married Manual Amburgey. To this union was born eleven children. Ten still living. In May, 1949 death took a 19 year old brother, Orel 1. Her children still living are Benjamin Amburgey, Bernice Adams of Letcher, KY; Willie Amburgey and Orpha Bryant, Cleada Caudill of Premium, KY; Owen Amburgey, Ted Amburgey of Roxana, KY; Ila Mulfinger of Nicholasville, KY; Neweral Amburgey of Taylorsville, KY; Sally Hampton of Louisville, KY; 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. In July, 1951 Mom and Dad attached themselves to the Old Regular Baptist Church. They were baptized in full fellowship. Mother and Dad had their fellowship with the Doty Creek Church until their death. Mom loved the church and filled her seat as long as she was able to attend. I feel with all my heart she let her light shine in her community. All loved her, even little children. Mom was sick for a long time. She would sing and praise her "Lord" as she lived. If the children wants to meet Mom and Dad when this life is oven forsake all "Sin" and turn to the "Lord" and make Mom's "God" your "God", I feel our loss is heaven's gain.

Brown, James C. -son of the late Stephen and Malinda Brown entered into eternal life on April 6, 1991 at his home in Salem., Indiana. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Gladys and a son, Wendell. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter. Also surviving are brothers; Willie, Wheeler, and Robert Brown; a sister, Mary Hampton, nieces, nephews, plus a host of friends. Jim attended the Old Regular Baptist Church since childhood and never faltered in his belief even though his health prevented his faithful presence in church, his spirit was lifted each time he attended He liked to talk about the church and told me he had a better home above. I feel my loss is heaven's gain and he is resting in peace. Why do we mourn for departed ones,
When God above knows best.
He comes to take his faithful ones, to that eternal rest,
He has fought a good fight,
He has kept the faith.
"I'm going to Glory, Lord, Come and get me", he said.
Then death's Angel took him over.
Sadly missed by a Sister in Hope, Gladys Brown and Son

She could close her eyes and see a mountain covered with beautiful flowers and in the center was a lighter colored bunch. She was asked what she thought it meant, she said it was God's Flower Garden. She was always happy to cook dinner for her brothers and sisters of the church even when she wasn't able and was always glad to have them come and visit. Mom has left us now for a home on high with streets of gold where there will be no more sickness or sorrow. If us children ever expect to be with Mom again, we will have to live the life she lived before us and beg the Lord for forgiveness, then we can someday join her in her heavenly home.

As one of the original members of the Little Rose Church, she was a faithful and devoted member. Mom's quiet and simple Christian life provided an "inspiration" to her family and all who knew her, Mom's life was devoted to serving God and caring for her family, She lived her life serving others. With her pleasing personality and her willingness to help, she touched many lives, Her greatest concern in life was providing for her husband and children. She loved and gave freely of herself to each and every one of us -never asking for anything in return. She had the ability to make every member of the family feel special. Her rewards came from making others happy. She lived in the shadow of Dad, always putting herself in the background, but in reality, was the backbone of the family. She was always there when we needed her, giving us love, support and encouragement. Our parents love for each other was shown in the way they left us. One day after their 53rd wedding anniversary, our father passed away in the morning hours. Mom's love for him was stronger than her desire to live, causing her to be stricken on the same day with an illness that resulted in her going home to be with him. She will be greatly missed! We feel that She and Dad are with Jesus and are waiting to welcome us home.

Pratt, Elder Steve - was born March 18, 1918 and deceased this life December 22, 1990, making his stay here on earth 72 years, 9 months and 4 days. He was married to Stella Mae Cornett on December 21, 1937 by Elder Lindsey Mosley. To this union was born nine children, One daughter, Anna Sue Pratt, preceded him in death. Surviving are five sons - Gwen Oliver Pratt, Leburn, KY; Donald Keith Pratt, Sassafras, KY; Sidney Wayne Pratt, Carrie, KY; James Arvil Pratt, Carrie, KY and Stephen S. Pratt, Jr., Cynthiana, KY. Three daughters survive - Virginia Lee Everage, Amburgey, KY; Stella Loraine Pratt, Leburn, KY and Elizabeth Carol Easter, Richmond, KY. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He joined the Old Regular Baptist Church on Irishman Creek in 1946 and soon after was called to preach. He was ordained to the ministry in 1949 and has tried to fight the battle with patience ever since. For the past few years I have been afflicted and spent much time in the hospital. I was lying in the hospital a few months ago when I fell asleep and was carried out in a vision to behold what the good Lord has waiting for me. I saw the destruction that was coming on the world for their sinful ways and I was begging the people to repent, but they would not listen, I became in great fear and cried out "Lord, what can I do?" A voice spoke to me and said, "Stand on the rock". A great stone came rolling to my side. When I climbed the rock all fear left me and I saw the destruction catch people and all living things as they were carried around the rock; and I never felt any fear. Most people would not believe such destruction is coming until it is too late. 1 was led to the top of the mountain and looked down on the other side. I saw a long green valley, I thought it was the valley of the shadow of death, I started down the valley in great fear and the Lord appeared by my side, All fear left me and we walked down the valley together. When we got near the end I could see a beautiful city ahead of me. A ladder came down out of the sky and stood near me. It was made of no Id and the Lord told me to climb it. I thought of Jacob's Ladder and I started up the ladder. When I got to where I could see over the city, it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I asked the Lord to let me go on into the city and he said, "No, not now". I came back down the ladder and stood beside the Lord. He pointed at that beautiful city and said, "This is where you'll spend your vacation". That pleased me, so I never asked for anything else. So, you see, I am only gone on vacation to a place of joy and peace forever. Wife and children, friends and neighbors - come take a vacation with me. I'll be waiting to welcome you home.
