She loved her church and attended regularly while in good health. She requested to be buried with a little white Bible in her hands and a note placed inside with a message for her children. The note reads; "I want you all to put this in my hands when I am dead to let you know that I am at rest and to come on home to Dad and Mom. Love always and come on home." This was a beautiful message that Mom left us. She had suffered for so long and she wanted us to know that her suffering was over— she was now with Dad. She wants us all to get ready to come and be reunited with Her and Dad. Our loss is heaven's gain. Loretta Sexton, I.D. Caudill, Paul Caudill, H.B. But by God's great mercy I received salvation. A few years later Rex came to me and told me what great things the Lord had done for him. He later joined the church that I belonged to. The same day his sister-in-law (my sister) Mertie Caudill and his brother in-law, H.B. Caudill joined also. We then walked together again in the Lord till his death. We miss him, but we feel our loss is heaven's gain. We would like to thank the members of the Blair Branch Church for their help and their prayers during our time of sorrow. Thanks to the Brother Ministers who gave their time and support. They were all so well blessed. We want to thank Sterlin and Mertie and his other neighbors for all the help in caring for him as long as they could. Also, to Jack and Ruth for their care in his last days. We will only say so long until we shall all be gathered together over home, in that beautiful, that blessed forever.

Combs, Zillah- was the first born of ten children to Monroe and Lucinda Singleton on May 23, 1904.She lived at home and helped to rear most of her younger brothers and sister. Then at the age of 27", she was married to Monroe Young in 1932. Their marriage ended by his death in 1947. Several years later, January 7, 1952, she was married to James "Durd" Ritchie. She became stepmother to his three children, Sarah, Margaret and Ivan. She and her husband became members of Clear Creek Old Regular Baptist Church where they later served their church as deacons. Their marriage was ended by his death May 11, 1967. She was later married -to Johnny Combs in June of 1969. She became the stepmother of his two children, Kathleen and Josephine. Johnny was also a member of the Clear Creek Old Regular Baptist Church. They too served as deacons. Her heart was saddened by his death in 1991. Since then, she had lived alone on Clear Creek, missing her 3 loving companions. In the spring of 1996, she became very ill and had to be in the hospital for several months and has been living with her niece, Carol, and her husband, Howard Owens. God has surely blessed her with a long life and given her strength to come through many heartaches and illnesses, but on September 20, 1996, he called her home for eternal rest, making her stay here on earth 92 years 3 months and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Monroe Young, James "Durd" Ritchie, and Johnny Combs, six brothers, Lucian, Ezekiel, Seamon, Cetha, Travis, and Ellis, one stepdaughter, Sarah and one stepson, Ivan. She leaves behind three brothers, Samuel, Joseph, and Virgil, one sister, Bessie, three stepdaughters, Margaret, Kathleen and Josephine and a great number of loved ones. Zillah's love, compassion, and wisdom has touched the lives of many and will surely be missed by her departure. We believe that by her faith in God, she has a mansion awaiting and our loss is Heaven's gain. This was written in. the Hazard Regional Medical Center by her request, instruction, and approval on her 92nd birthday, May 23, 1996. I feel most honored by granting her request for me to. write this. Her assistance and the memories shared with me sure made the task a lot easier, but nonetheless heart breaking. I will surely miss her.
I love you, Aunt Zillah.     Carol

Hart, Nada Amburgey-I was born at Pine Top, Kentucky on February 8, 1915. Elmer B. Hart and I were married on July 16, 1938, and to this union was born four children (Sharon Kay, Elmer Franklin, Rebecca Sue and Kenneth David).1 firmly believe my soul was born again of the spirit of God, a Baptist, on November 19, 1946 at 11:00 A.M. My burden of sin went, I knew not where, and gone was all my guilt and fear. Love filled my soul. 1 rejoiced and praised God, feeling heaven would be ray home. I felt old things had passed away, and that all things had become new. I felt I was a new creature in a new 'world. This experience gave me a hope that makes me willing to face death in hope of a joyful resurrection. God bid me to go home to the Old Regular Baptist Church, and tell what good things the Lord had done for me. I obeyed and was blessed in obedience. God has blessed m© through trials and afflictions, making burdens light. God's grace has been sufficient for me. I have never found anything to be too hard for the Lord. I can't thank God enough for His mercy bestowed to me. God has answered so many of my prayers and revealed so many things to me before they happened, that I can say by experience, God is an all wise and merciful God. God bless you, my husband, dear children, grandchildren, in-laws, relatives, and friends. Don't grieve over me, as it is a gain to die in the Lord. Meet me in the air when God calls his children home to heaven. My heart is full of love, which can't be expressed in words. Written by Nada Amburgey Hart
-------------------
The family of Nada Hart wishes to add the following remarks to her words. Elmer Hart, her husband of 58 years, wishes to thank God for permitting him to share and enjoy her Christian life and tender motherhood. To the children, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Mom was a teacher for 32. years and touched the lives of many students with her high morals and values. She had a special place in her heart for the sick, lonely and needy. Mom served the Lord with gladness all the days of her life. This was her greatest joy. She was a very faithful servant of the Lord. Our home was filled with memories of Mom singing the old Baptist hymns, talking about the Bible, and telling of her beautiful Christian visions. Just before she died she had a vision of her soul resting under the altar ©f God. She longed daily to go on to that beautiful home after she had that vision. Mom passed away on November 18, 1996, fifty years from the time she was born again. We love and miss her every day, but memories of her will live forever. We will never forget the principles and values for which she stood, or her vision of the beauty of God's teachings which she instilled in us daily. Mom's final wish would have been for all of us to meet her again in the joyous resurrection.

Sturgill, Hobart-Another soldier in the Army of the Lord has answered the call of death. The call came to "come on home and rest from your labors, you have been faithful over a few things and 1 will give you rest unto your soul." Hobart Sturgill was weary and tired from the struggles of this life and desired to hear the call of eternity. He had not been able to walk or to see the beauties of God's handiwork in this world for many years but we believe that Hobart is now seeing .with new eyes j, having exchanged the troubles of this world for the glories "of Heaven. Hobart Sturgill was born on December 3, 1907 to Orbin Sturgill and May Smith Sturgill and passed from this life on Sunday, August 31, 1997 at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Wise,, Virginia. Early in life, Hobart met and married Lona Caudill Sturgill who preceded him in death. To this holy union was born three sons: Donald,. Kenneth and Hubert; and three daughters: Ilileen, Norma Jean and Phyllis. He was preceded in death by two children: Donald and Aileen, three brothers: Oscar, Dewey and Elmer, three sisters: Gustava Farmer, Stella Hampton and Eva Jayne, and one grandson. Hobart is survived by four children: Kenneth, Hubert, Norma Jean Sloce and Phyllis Owens, one brother - Jonas Sturgill, two sisters - Mellie and Annalea, eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Hobart was a hard working, friendly man who loved to talk about the Lord and the goodness of his promises. He was bedfast and blind for many years but this seemed to only strengthen his faith in the Lord. He also loved his church and was a faithful member of the Doty Creek Old Regular Baptist Church for many years. Hobart' s voice is still but the angels rejoiced to see another one of God's children come home. The lives that he touched will always remember him and his special love for them. He is missed by his family and many friends but it's not "good-bye" forever for there is hope of a joyful reunion of all in Heaven.
