Combs, Wanda Lee With a sad and broken heart, I will try to write the obituary of Wanda Lee Combs. Wanda Lee Mullins Combs was born to Newton J. & Lizzie Gibson Mullins. In early life Wanda met and married Russell Combs. To this union bore 7 children; Russell Jr, Ronnie, Frances Sue, Larry, Laura-Lou, James Edward, and Fronia Combs. She had 7 grandchildren.  Wanda loved her family as much as any mother could. She has had lots of heart aches with her children. She worked so hard for her family. She made a happy home for them. Finally God seen she had done a good job, he took her out of her troubles and sorrows. She worried so much over her sick husband and sick daughter Frances Sue.   She would talk to me over the phone how good God was to her and her family. Wanda Lee loved to go to the church at Charlestown. She loved to hear her oldest brother preach (Dee). She would say Sis, Mom and Dad would be so pleased with Dee. I would say they sure would. She said Sis if all my children would go to church it would be a house full, and said I hope they see the light before its too late for them. I said they will Wanda for God hears all cries from the heart.   On Mothers Day of this year, one of her son-in-laws she dearly loved Keith Lowe came to church at Charlestown in the love of Wanda. She said after that day she said Keith loves me better than my boys does, said none don't forget on Mother's Day. That made her mother's day when she saw him come through the church door. Wanda told me, sis t rather see my flowers while I live and go to a better world after I leave here. I said that is my desire, said after we're gone, flower's are useless. So, if there was ever a wife, mother and grandmother that saw flowers around her family, Wanda did. Her family was her life so listen if you...husband, children ,grandchildren, brothers and sisters that are not ready to go- get ready, for after death it is too late. God says, " Way the tree fall, so shall it be". If you go in sin that is the way you will come out the grave, to be cast into Hell Fire that will burn forever and forever. I do believe our loss is heaven's gain. Thank you Good God, for all your blessings you give us. You are good to sinner's as well as saints. So sleep Wanda just for a little while; the way the world is God isn't going to stay much longer. I'll meet you there by the help of the good lord. So long for a little while. Wanda, mom, dad, and sisters has preceded us in death, so they have a little family with god, waiting for god to make the last call. We all have lost a good wife, mother, grandmother, and a wonderful sister, she showed us she loved us all.      So we all preach our own funerals, while we go through this life, and Wanda Lee preached a good one. Wanda Lee was born August 11, 1935. She died August 23, 1993.

Mullins, Gilbert It is with a sad heart and loving memories that I write this obituary of my brother Gilbert Mullins. He was born January 30, 1920. to John Wess Mullins and Margarett Combs Mullins of Amburgey, Ky.He passed away on July 8, 1993 at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He was 73 years and 6 months old. In 1941he met and married Millie Martin of Littcarr, Ky. To this union was born two children Mary Jane McGhee of Detroit, Michigan and Clarence Mullins of Mich.  and they raised an adopted daughter Linda Whitaker of Tennessee. He had four grandsons also one great-grandson and one great grand-daughter, and one great-great-granddaughter. He wasn't a member of the old regular Baptist church but that is what he believed in and I don't have a doubt that he is at peace with the Lord. Preceding him in death are four brothers Virgil Mullins of Tennessee, Raymond Mullins of Ky, James H. Mullins of Mich, and Mark Mullins of Mich, one sister Laura Mullins of Indiana and his father and mother.  Surviving him are one brother Robert Mullins and three sisters Catherine Mullins, and Wanda Reynolds and Lottie Collins all of Indiana. Also his wife and children and grandchildren. We all miss him very much, may the Lord bless and keep his family, is my prayer.

Thornsberry, Martha Combs  Sister Martha Combs Thornsberry, one of thirteen children born to Kennis Combs and Nancy Gibson Combs. Sister Martha was born Feb 29, 1888, she entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 8, 1992at Parkview Manor Nursing Home at Pikeville, Ky. Making her stay on earth 104 years one month and eleven days.   Sister Martha married George Thornsberry. They had four children, Holly, Guy, Brookie and Clyde. Sister Martha was preceded in death by her father mother all ten brothers two sisters her husband and two son's; Guy and Clyde. Sister Martha daughter Holly followed her in death on Feb 24, 1993.  Leaving one daughter living at this time, Sister Brookie Craft of Wayland, Ky. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grand-children and 5 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and many relatives and loved ones. Sister Martha joined Caney Fork Old Regular Baptist Church at Raven, Ky in Knott Coon May 16, 1942. She remained a faithful member until her death.  It was always a blessing for the whole church to look out and see Sister Martha come walking down the road with her cane in her hand. She would come in smiling always telling something funny. Having everyone in the church laughing. Then the young ones 70 and 80 years old would stop complaining when they would see someone coming to church every month that was over a hundred years old, so joyful and happy. She sure was a blessing to all of us at the Caney Fork Church. Sister Martha was buried on the Gibson Cemetery at Raven, Kentucky.
