Obituaries-1947

Penix, Mary Jane-  It is with a sad and aching heart that I will try to write an obituary of a dear Sister in the Lord, Mary Jane Penix.  Born May 10, 1865, departed this life February 20, 1947, age 81 years, 9 months and 10 days.  she was married to John Dl. Penix July 31, 1884 and to this union was born seven children, four girls and three boys, of whom six are living.  Their names being: Lucy Arms of Russell, Kentucky; Elbert of Siloam, Kentucky; Bill of Wurtland, Kentucky; Ida M. Boggs of Chillicothe, Ohio; J.C. Penix of Baltimore, Md.; and Minnie Barker of Old town, Kentucky.  One girls, Muriel departed this life, October 2, 1912 at the age of 18 years. She joined the Old Regular Baptist Church in the year of 19112 and has lived a faithful member ever since. always filling her seat in the church when she was able. She fell six years ago and injured herself in a way that she was a helpless cripple the rest of her life.  It was her request that the Regular Baptist Brethren take care of her funeral.  Her children have lost a good mother and the neighbors a good friend, and the Old church a good and faithful member, but Heaven has gained an extra Angel. I visited her very often in her sickness and heard her talk of good things above, and the last time that my wife and me visited her bed side, we sang and prayer with her and she clapped her hands and shouted for joy and she left this world shouting.
Her funeral was preached by Elder Steve Osborne and Elder Baxter Osborne, February 22, 1947.  I want to say to all her children that haven't professed a hope, if they ever want to see Mother again, they must repent of their sins.
