We've never had a mansion here below, but thanks to the Lord we are looking forward to occupying one over in God's country. In the later stages of his life here on earth, his last thoughts were upon Heaven and in is dying hour he requested that his daughter read from the Holy Bible, everything she could find about Heaven's country. Then, James quietly slipped into his eternal rest. His wife, Zuda Hollon Back

Your gentle face and patient smile With sadness we recall, You had a kindly word for each And died beloved by all. The voice is mute and stilled the heart That loved us well and true, Ah! bitter was the trial to part From one so good as you. You are not forgotten loved one Nor will you ever be, As long as life and memory last We will remember thee. We miss you now, our hearts are sore, As time goes by we'll miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face, No one can fill your vacant place.
UNSEEN HAND
There is an unseen hand to me
That leads through ways I cannot see
While going through this world of woe,
This hand still leads me as I go.
I'm trusting to the unseen hand,
That guides me through this weary land;
And some sweet day I'll reach that strand
Still guided by the unseen hand.
His hand has led through shadows drear,
And while it leads I have no fear;
I knew 'twill lead me to that home,
Where sin nor sorrow ever can come.
I long to see my Savior's face,
And sing the story "Saved By Grace,"
And there upon the golden strand
I'll PRAISE HIM FOR HIS GUIDING HAND.
Written by Elder Lester F. Riley, in memory of a beloved friend and sister in the church

GOD'S FLOWER GARDEN
"It's hard to lose the ones we love,
to see them passing away.
The sweetest and the kindest gone,
while others are left to stay.
But if we had a garden,
with roses fair and bright.
We'd often pick the loveliest,
and think it to be right!"
"And so it's with Jesus,
in his heavenly garden here.
He often picks the fairest flower,
the one we love so dear.
The flowers picked by him
will never fade away.
We know they'll live forever,
and we'll see them some sweet day."
By his wife, Myrtle and his children

He has wandered into an unknown land.
And left us dreaming, how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingers there."
"So think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of there as the love of here.
Think of him still as the same, a
nd say He is not dead; He's just away."

Slone, Nancy Chaney-It is with a sad and aching heart, that we will try to write, with the help of the Lord; a short obituary of our dear wife and mother. Nancy Chaney Slone was born on September 13, 1930 at Fishtrap, Kentucky and passed from this life June 14, 1985. She was 54 years, 9 months, and one day old. She was the daughter of Jessie and Zettie Thacker Chaney. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother, who will always be greatly missed by her husband Jimpie; her son Jimpie Jr, and her five daughters, Kathy, Polly Faye, Leisha, Janet Lynn, and Judy Lee. Mommy grew up at Fishtrap, Kentucky and married daddy on Labor Day in the year of 1948. They were married for over thirty-five years, and the love and devotion they felt for each other has been an inspiration to us children. There were two children who preceded mother in death, Jessie James and Ruth who died at infancy. Also surviving her are two brothers; Kermit of Red Creek, Pike County, Kentucky; and Ervin of Millard, Kentucky. Four sisters: Ercie, Martha, Belle, and Erma Jean, all of Millard, Kentucky. The hardest thing we have ever done was to stand by mommy's bed and see her suffer; not being able to do anything about it except hope and pray for her. We loved her so much; losing her was like losing a part of our hearts. But mommy said, she had put herself into the hand of the Lord and he knows what's best. So, we feel that she is at peace with her Savior and her suffering is all over. She will always be with us in our hearts and memories. We want to thank the brothers and sisters of the Thornton Union Association for their help in our time of need. Written by Daughters Polly and Leisha Slone with the help of Elder Alfred Chaney

Stallard, Willie-With a sad heart I will try to write the obituary of my dear father and the husband of Unie Webb Stallard. On Tuesday, April 9, 1985, at 10 p.m. in Cleveland, Ohio, God called daddy home. We will miss his sweet smile and blue eyes and we will always remember his blue overalls. He was born William Elberson  "Willie" Stallard in Ermine, Kentucky. Born on August 6,1888, he was 96 years, 8 months and 3 days young at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Unie Webb Stallard; three daughters, Inez Croxdale of Knoxville, Tennessee; Minnie Andrews of Cleveland, Ohio; and Nettie Jean Powell of Conneaut, Ohio; four sons, James and Orville of Cleveland, Ohio; John Morris of Annandale, Virginia; and Daniel of South Shore, Kentucky. He was one of eleven children, seven of them have preceded him in death. He has one brother still living, John of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Minnie Fields of Ermine, Kentucky and Cora Adkins of Elmonte, California. There are 23 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews along with a host of other friends and relatives who will mourn his passing. Daddy joined the Thornton Regular Baptist Church in 1941, and was a faithful member as long as he was in good health. Daddy was a veteran of World War I and after working 36 years with the L&N Railroad he retired. All his life he worked hard providing for his family and he and Unie raised a garden up until the last year or so. He walked a lot from his home to Whitesburg and Crafts Colly five days a week. They maintained their home until Unie had her first stroke and then after the second one, they had to move to Knoxville, Tennessee for Unie to be taken care of. It was very hard for them to leave Ermine and Willie's heart was never far from Kentucky. After eight months in Tennessee, they went to live in Cleveland, Ohio with their son Orville until God called Daddy home. I believe in my heart that Daddy is resting now, and will rise to be with Jesus on that Great Day. Written by his daughter, Inez

The first time he ever attended an Old Baptist Church Service was when we had service at our home. Brother Jerry was pardoned of his sins, around 1968, and was baptized by Elder Bill Cox al Rhodes Park. lie became a member of the Redeemed ('Church al Caney, Ivy., who gave the arm for the Myrtle Baptist Church of winch lie was a charier member. He was also our clerk and treasurer here at the Myrtle Church for the last several years. He has left some mighty big shoes to fill. I remember when Brother Jerry told me that the Lord had pardoned his sins. II made me so happy. I saw a remarkable difference in Brother Jerry after that. I le was a wonderful, warm and kind person to have in our home, lie would read his Bible almost every night, and was a real inspiration to my wile, my children, and myself. Brother Jerry was handicapped, but not disabled. He always wanted to be treated just like everyone else. He did almost everything he wanted to do in this life. I know that he won't be crippled in Heaven.Written by a close friend and brother, In the Lord, Auttis J. Cox
For Brother Jerry VanNorway
We were blessed by his life as he walked on earth,
But only God can measure his total worth.
He loved God's Laws, and he studied God's Word
He loved to labor in the house of the Lord.
He was short in stature, but oh! he was tall
In faith in his God, the maker of all.
Like Zacchaeus, he wanted to see the Lord,
When he heard his fame and believed his word.
As with Zacchaeus, the Lord saw him on the way,
And He came to' abide in his house one day.
Angels came before nightly reading with the Bible on his lap,
And he fell asleep, as if taking a nap.
Though his smile is gone, and his dear humble way,
We will meet again on God's homecoming day.
