Yates, Gobel It is with much sadness and sorrow that we attempt, by the help of the good Lord to write this obituary of our loving husband and father Gobel Yates. He was born to Walter and Canzaty Yates on July 12 1935 and departed this life Dec, 14, 1987, making his stay her on earth 52 years 5 months and2 days. He was married to Alene Viers on Nov, 25, 1960. To this union was born five loving children. 3 boys and 2 girls, Dexter, Trenia, Michael, and Crystal at home and Avery in enlisted in the U.S. Army. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, children, mother, one brother, and five sisters. Nuburn Yates and Zella Coleman of Haysi, VA; Irene Stiltner and Emelene Looney, of Harman, VA; Ethel Hagerman, Grundy, VA; and Darlene Hicks of Avolcotteville, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Yates, two brothers Ervin and Junior, and one sister Sara. Gobel had been a member of the Old Regular Baptist church about 19 years. He liked to attend church when he was able. He had been in bad health for a long time but got much worse after he suffered a heart attack in 1984. We believe he is at rest now, where there wont be any more sickness or heart attacks. We believe our loss is Heavens gain. Daddy lived a good life in front of us children and counseled us in the right way. Sleep on Daddy for a short while. We hope to meet you in Heaven some day. Our home will never be the same anymore since our loving husband and father is gone but by the mercy of the Good Lord we can meet again some sweet day. We want to thank all the people who provided food flowers or helped us in any way during these sad and lonely hours.

Yates, Lewis    It is with much sadness that we try to write an obituary of Elder Lewis Yates. Brother Lewis was the son of the late George B. Doley Yates and Princey R.Yates. He was born  Jan, 6, 1901 and  passed away Sept 27, 1987 at his brothers home Cecil Yates. Making his stay on earth 86 years 8 months and 21 days. He was married to Gustia Yates and to this union was 3 daughters and two sons. Preceded him in death was his wife Gustis,  his 3 daughters Pinkie, Ruby, and Hazel Yates and one son Farley Yates and three grand-children. Dixter , Charles, and Charlie Yates. He is also survived by one son Edward Yates and 2 daughters-in-laws Ruth Yates and Elva. 4 Grandchildren Sandra, Diana, Rocky and Rita.4 great grandchildren Daniel, Paul, Hurley and Jonathan Ray Hurley. Shamberly Yates and Natasha Endicott. 4 Brothers Joe, Finis, Corbett and Cecil Yates.2 sisters Lottie and Pearlie Yates. Brother Lewis joined the Old Regular Baptist Church on the 4th Saturday of Feb 1941 and was ordained on Nov 25, 1961.Brother Lewis will be missed by his relatives, neighbors and a great host of friends. We will miss his smile and handshake. No matter where you saw brother Lewis he wanted to hug and kiss you. We hope to meet you someday.

Yates, Tommy Joe    It is with a sad and broken heart we will try to write the obituary of our
loved one, Tommy Joe Yates. He was born on July 3, 1983 making his stay here on earth 4 years 10 months and 11 days. He was the son of Hansel and Fay Yates, and leaves behind 4 brothers Dennis, Timmy, Scotty, and Junior; 3 sisters Marcella, Tina and Amanda Yates all of
Rt.2 Haysi, One niece Armindy, 2 nephews Jessie and Mark Jr, Yates of Haysi. Tommy Joe enjoyed skating and he loved to ride his bicycle, he had just learned to ride it without training wheels about a week ago. He was loved by all of us and we will miss him very much,
