ADKINS, Clinard Fate- was b: Feb 2 1926 Pike Co., Ky, s/o the late Midget and Lacy (Coleman) Adkins; he is preceded in death by one sister, Bernice Bentley, and survived by one brother, Boyd Adkins; and one sister; Dona Riat Bentley; md: Adeline ARTRIP 1945; 5 children: Laura Rowe, Ellis C. Adkins, Rosanna Wells, Patricia Hopkins, and Tammy Sellars; having being orphaned at an earily age he and his siblings were raised by Parsada Coleman, grandmother. He was retired coal miner for over 30 yrs. Member of the Church of Old Regular Baptist.

ADKINS, Elder Dorse -was b: Mar 8 1907 s/o the late King Soloman and Elizabeth Adkins, d: Sep 22 1997, he 1st married Georgia THACKER of Pike Co., Dec 30 1926, his wife, one daughter, Edythe Mae Coleman and two son, Tommy and Silas Adkins, and one sister, Mae Hylton all deceased. Leaving one son, Chester Adkins of Greasy Creek, Ky and 3 daughters, Glena Charles and Myra Charles both of Shelbiana, Ky, and Madgaline Hockett of Versilles, Ky; also leaving one sister, Emma Childers of Greasy Creek, Ky, two half brothers, Charles and Earl Adkins, 2 half sisters, Rosie Butler and Elva Adkins, all of Cleveland, Ohio; 2nd married the late Myrtie RUNYON COLEMAN on Mar 3 1980; from that marriage he leaves step-sons, Clayton Coleman of Ashcamp, Ky; Don Coleman of Talbott, Tenn, and Elder Paul Coleman of Powells Creek Road, Pike Co., Ky; and one step daughter, Maggie Anderson of Millers Highway. He was a retired miner of the Republic Steel Corporation. Member of the Greasy Creek Church of Old Regular Baptist, baptized Aug 1936 by the late Elder A. D. (Doll) Blackburn.

ADKINS, Kenneth Jeffrey -was b: Dec 21 1993 d: Nov 24 1997 s/o Kenneth and Carol Adkins, leaving one brother, Anthony Conway, a sister, Mary Beth Adkins, 2 grandmothers, Georgia Dowell and Mary Conway both of Mansfield, Ohio, also leaves, great grandmother, Oma Trivette of Pikeville, Ky.

ARTRIP, Jethro -was b: Jul 2 1895 d: Oct 24 1976, s/o William James and Sarah Jane (Coleman) Artrip; md: Cora Jane FARMER in 1915; 12 children, 2 died in infancy; leaving 3 sons: Elmer d: 1992; Clayton and Alfonso Artrip; 7 girls: Burtis Jones, Mescal Adkins; Esta Faye Artrip; Janice Spears; Adeline Adkins; June Johnson; and Celia Gaye Coleman. Member of the Church of Old Regular Baptist.

BAKER, Verlin -was a native of Dickenson Co., Va b: Dec 9 1924 d: Dec 14 1997; s/o the late Cleveland and Lucy Baker; also preceded him in death, his first wife, Vonice Baker, 2 brothers, Arson and Sidney Baker; and one half brother, Carol Baker. He leaves his 2nd wife, Della R. (Gilbert) Baker; 5 daughters and one step-daughter: Sue Willis and Mavis O'Quinn, both of Haysi, Va; Shirley Koshat of Farmington Hills, Mich; Pamela Perrigan of Clinchco, Va; Merle O'Quinn of Bee, Va; and Darlene Edwards of Copac, Mich; 4 sons and 4 step-sons: Clayton, Roy, Jeffrey and N.C. Baker all of Clinchco, Va; David and Marcus Gilbert both of Haysi, Va; Charles Gilbert of Dante, Va; and Paul Gilbert of Prater, Va; 4 sisters: Margie Branham; Sadie Turner and Essie Turner all of Chichco, Va; and Nadine Skeens of Grundy, Va; one brother, Otis Baker of Clinchco, Va. He was a retired coal miner.

BARTLEY, Anna Mae -was b: Sep 21 1930 d/o John E. and Loucinda (Sykes) Bartley d: May 13 1998; she leaves one brother, Jack Bartley, and his wife, Juanita, of Bartley Town; and two sisters, Louise Darby of Enon, Ohio and Martha Potter of Bartley Town; she was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Bartley and Fon Bartley both of Ashcamp, Ky; and two sisters, Ora McDowell of Colorado, and Flora Cantrell of Ashcamp; and a late husband, Buford Belcher; she leaves her husband, Martin A. ADAMS; one son, David (Glenna) Belcher; 6 daughters, Fonda (Kenneth) Overstreet; Theda McCalley; Jennifer (Eddie) Ratliff; Thelma (Ronnie) Fleming; Jannie (Kimmie) Blackburn; and her baby, Barbara (Terry) Smith. She joined the Cedar Grove Church of Old Regular Baptist on May 20 1997.

BARTLEY, Jessie Teamus "Poppy" -b: Ashcamp Ky Oct 1 1891 s/o Noah and Mary Ann (Stiltner) Bartley, md: Georgia Ann WALLACE, 1910; 11 children; 5 boys: Hustler, Luther, Mannis, Vernon, and James T.; 6 girls: Pearlie, Maxie, Alpha, Hester, Mary and Anna Mae. On Jun 20 1942 he joined the Ashcamp Church of Old Regular Baptist where he served as Clerk, and Custodian for many years. After the death of his first wife, he married Rushie Clevinger, 1969. In April 1991, he entered the Mountain View Heath Center in Elkhorn City, Ky where he remained until his death in 1996. He Care centered honored him each year on his birthday from age 99 through 105, the family chose not to have a 106th birthday celebration.

BARTLEY, Ruby- was b: May 1 1928 in Dunlary, Ky d: Jun 29 1998 at the University of Michigan Medical Center, d/o Patton and Hessie (Ealey) Bartley, she leaves 5 sons: Jimmy and Michael of Tenn; Rex, Eddie and Paul of Ypsilanti, Michigan; 2 grand- daughters, Sonja and Sara of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and one great grand-daughter Marie of Ypsilanti, Michigan; 2 sisters: Carol Higgins of Canto, Mich; Trively Syck of Pittsburgh, PA; one brother, Kenneth; and sister in law, Carolyn of Belleville, Mich; she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed ADKINS; 2 sons, Mark and Baby Mark; one sister, Patsy; and one brother, James. Member of the Ypsilanti Church of Old Regular Baptist.

BEVERLY, Helen -b: Jul 30 1930 in Pike Co., Ky d/o Newton and Pearl (Yates) Beverly d: Jun 3 1998; md: Billy ADDINGTON, Jul 30 1947; 5 children, one son, Jeffery, deceased; leaving, two sons, Jimmy of White Lake, Mich; and Richard of Fort Worth, TX; two daughters, Patricia Johnson of Belleville, Mich; Melissa DiChario of Pittsford, NY; 4 brothers; Charles of Trenton, Mich; Olla of Riverside, Calif; Roosevelt of Rochester NY; Robie of Scipio, Indiana; 4 sisters: June Spivey of Chesapeake, Ohio; Nona Massi of Sebring, Fla; Eleanor Shaver of Rochester, NY and Anna Ruth Conley of Star Tannery, Va. Joined the Pilgrim Rest Church of Old Regular Baptist in Oct 1956 and was baptized at Dorton Creek Church.

BLANKENSHIP, Lee -was b: Dec 6 1919 d: Sep 19 1997; s/o Elder Jim and Mary (Stacy) Blankenship of Hurley, Va; both deceased; md: Liddie MULLINS, deceased one daughter, Judy Blankenship; 2nd md: Mable Vance Endicott April 26 1947; 3 children: Roger Lee, Stuart Ray, and Darlene Ruth Blankenship; 2 step children: Ruby Rife and Raymond Farley Endicott. Member of the Church of Old Regular Baptist for 33 years.

COLLINS, Mary- b: Mar 14 1914 in Pike Co., Ky d/o of the late W. F. and Pricy Collins, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry BALDWIN; 2nd husband, Harley BLACKBURN; sons, Paul Douglas, and Joseph Baldwin; sisters: Alta Smith, Betty Chapman, Vicy Blackburn and Effie Collins; survived by sons: David Baldwin of Columbus, Ohio; Samuel, Charles and Stephen Baldwin all of Bedford, Va; James Baldwin of Belleville, Michigan; Michael Baldwin of Elizabeth City, NC; Richard Baldwin of Canada, Ky; and dr. Jonathan Baldwin of Bowling Green, Ky; daughters: Mary Elizabeth Flood of Mount Clemens, Mich; Anna Marie Bowens of Newton, WVa; Nancy Parsley of Williamson, WVa; Judy Hensley of Church Ill, Tenn; Patricia Hall of Myrtle Beach, SC; Leona Baldwin of Huddy, Ky; Susan Newson of Pikeville, Ky; Louise Sturgill, Rebecca Bentley and Bernice Thacker all of Canada, Ky. She was a charter member of the Sidney Missionary Baptist Church.

DAY, Elder Lawrence- was b: Sep 14 1909 in Whitesburg, Ky, s/o Zack and Polly Ann (Hogg) Day; d: Dec 30 1997; md: May 25 1930 to Vera Calihan of Roxana, Ky; 4 sons: Hayward, Don and Edward of Okeana, Ohio and Leon Day of Mt. Carmel, Indiana; 3 girls: Barbara Gindling of Okeana, Ohio, and Iva Jean, deceased; he leaves two brohters, Kelly Day of Brookville, Indiana; Harvey Day of Harrison, Ohio; two sisters, Eva Gilbert of Lawrenceburg, Indiana and Ethel Crase of Charlestown, Indiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Iva Jean; grandson, Billy Scott York; and four sisters, Luana Crase, Sally Shephard, Mary Hodge, and Martha Stamper. He joined the Old Regular Baptist Church on August 9 1949.

DUNBAR, Elder Birtus Lexie, Jr.- was b: Jun 13 1916 to the late Birtus Lexie, Sr. and Elizabeth (Hazzard) Dunbar, d: Mar 6 1998; md: Doris Estelle CURRY on Feb 22 1940; one daughter, Dorotha Faye; one granddaughter, Jennifer Anne; one sister, Imogene Easley; he was preceded in death by hsi wife, one brother, and one sister; 2nd md: Poe ADAMS Mar 31 1996; step son, Clarence (Red) Adams; one step daughter, Marie Thompson. He served in WWII. He joined the Little Ida Church of Old Regular Baptist and was ordained a minister in 1967.

HALL, Elder Jeff -was b: May 18 1924 Floyd Co., Ky s/o Tom and Millie (Bryant) Hall; d: Feb 28 1994; md: Josie JOHNSON Jun 15 1942; 4 boys: Bobby, Elder Paul, and Tim, all of Albion, Michigan; and James of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 6 girls: Sue Little, Jeanette Merrill, Wilma Woods, Wanda McIntyre, and Emma Ford, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan; one son, Jackie, died in infancy; he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Crit and Lewis Hall; two sisters, Allie and Dallie (in youth) and an older sister, Mary Caudill. Joined the Little Vineyard Church of Old Regular Baptist in 1972, he was ordained as a minister in 1979.

LAYNE, Elder Vanis- was b: Aug 7 1933 at Kimper, Ky in Pike Co to the late Julius and Malinda Jane (Thacker) Layne, also preceded him in death were 3 brothers, Joseph, Berlin, and Thomas Layne, and a sister Lilly May Layne; he leaves 3 brothers, Elder Perry Layne, Elder Lee Layne and Brother Emery Layne, all of Pike Co., Ky. He leaves his wife of 44 years, md: Sep 1 1953 to Frances Layne at age 15 of Jeffersonville, Ky; one daughter, Margaret Ann and husband Herb Smith, Jeffersonville, Ky; two sons, William Rex and wife Rita of Campton, Ky and Timothy James and wife, Melinda Sue of Kimper, Ky; 4 grandchildren, Wesley and Vanessa Lester of Pikeville and Chad and Rocky Lee Layne of Kimper Ky; 3 step grandchildren, James and Jeff Helton, and Norita Watson all of Campton, Ky. Member of the Church of Old Regular Baptist.

McCRAY, Dorothy -was b: Jun 20 1915 to Enoch and Sarah (Tackett) McCray in Lincoln Co., Ky she moved to Millstone Ky where she grew up; d: May 20 1998 md: Charlie E. HALL, Aug 1931; 3 boys 4 girls: Joyce (Alex) Collier of Hillsboro, Ky; Donald Hall of Crestwood, Ky; Shirley Roberts of Cleveland, Ohio; Charlie (Sandy) Hall, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio and Loretta (Hillard) Bentley of Litchfield, Ohio; Carlene Hatton, died Nov 16 1997; and Teddy Hall died at birth. In June 1967, her husband had a stroke which left him paralyzed on the left side and was unable to talk d: Sep 1 1968; 2nd md: Alfred ADAMS, Feb 1973; step children: Flo Galloway and Mary Lou Marcum of Big Stone Gap, Va; Linda Combs of Hazard, Ky; and Don Adams of Elyria, Ohio; She spent the last several years at Heritage Hall Nursing HOme in Big Stone Gap, Va.; she also leaves, two sisters, Hattie Bates of Freeport, Fla; and Henrietta Astrovich of Corneith, Ky; 5 sisters and 2 brothers deceased.

ROSE, Gertrude -of Jackson Branch, Elkhorn City, Pike Co., Ky died May 6 1998 kidney failure; d/o the late J. W. "Bill" and Sarah Ann (Bentley) Rose, she was b: Aug 7 1923 in Pike Co., Ky; md: Victor BARTLEY, Dec 22 1939, children, one boy: Billy Bartley of Jackson Branch; 3 girls: Christine Lucas of Shelby Gay, Ky; Wilma Jean Kelly of Ashcamp, Ky; Judith Ann Slone d: Feb 1998. She was baptized Jul 1968 by Elder Dallas Ramsey, Elder Clardia Sanders. She also leaves, one brother, Charley Rose of Flatwoods, Ky; one sister, Betty Swiney of Shelby Gap, Ky. Buried at the Johnson Memorial Park, South Mayo Trail, Pikeville, Ky. Arrangements were under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home.

STILTNER, Elder Fred -was b: Aug 6 1906 s/o the late Christopher C. and Rachel (Deel) Stiltner of Buchanan Co., Va d: Apr 18 1998; md: Sallie Ellen SUTHERLAND, Aug 6 1929, who died Nov 6 1990; one son, Roland Fines died at age 14 days; also deceased, 4 brothers, Dave, Arville, Ellis and Frank; 4 sisters, Lydia Foster, Nancy Deel; he leaves, one son, Cyrus Gaines Stiltner; 5 daughters, Ninia Lois Mirtz, Lina Pearl O'Lena; Arbutus Schultz, Shelia Fern McComsy and Brenda Sue Lehman. Member of the Bull Creek Church of Old Regular Baptist for 65 years. He was a graduate of Grundy High School and attended Radford Teachers College; he taught school for 36 years in Buchanan and Dickenson Public Schools, he was a notary Public and a retired coal miner.
